Analogue Nt... Yeah or Nah?

So the company Analogue recently opened pre-orders for their retro gaming system dubbed the Analogue Nt. It will be able to play the original NES and Famicom games. It boasts of containing the original NES hardware within its build and not running any emulation of any kind. Is it worth a buy, even for nostalgia's sake? To me it is a nice play on nostalgia. It's even nicer to know that people still enjoy all the old school games and systems. After all the Nintendo revolutionized gaming for ever. With its 2000 plus library of games the Nintendo was basically the epitome of gaming creating many gaming mascots, most popular of all, Mario.

Ok so hear's the deal. Whenever these type of devices come out I go straight for the bottom line, the price. The price for this gaming system is at $500. Is it really worth that particular price? I don't think so. For one, if someone wanted they could just go one eBay and by a refurbished Nintendo system for a lot cheaper. Secondly, they could either simply download emulators and play Nintendo games that way. Yes the Analogue Nt boasts of having HD capability but you have to buy that in the form of an adapter for an extra $49. So now you're paying $549 to revel in NES glory and reminisce over your childhood. Not to mention another $50 for a custom color of your choosing. I guess if you had the money to throw away it wouldn't be an issue but why try to reinvent the wheel?

To me, I'd rather stick with emulation. It's cheap than paying $500 for a new gaming system that plays only retro games. I guess if I really wanted to be the ultimate Uber gamer I would just go on eBay and see if I would be able to find an original NES for an affordable price. But hey, that's just me.
